INVITATIONAL INSTITUTE

The Invitational Institute is intended for teachers who wish to expand their professional leadership roles in the region, in addition to growing as a teacher and writer.  Twelve participants will be selected from nominations by past TCs, school administrators, and college faculty.  To earn six graduate credits and a stipend, participants will engage in 90 hours of professional development, taking place from May, 2008 – spring, 2009.

OPEN INSTITUTE

The Open Institute is intended for teachers who wish to take advantage of a Writing Project Institute, in order to grow as a teacher and writer.  To earn three graduate credits and a stipend, participants will engage in 45 hours of professional development, taking place during July, 2009.

The Eastern Shore Writing Project is an approved affiliate of the National Writing Project, a network of over 165 sites across the country and around the world that seeks to improve the teaching of writing at all levels of education, pre-kindergarten through university. The NWP has been recognized by the American Association for Higher Education and the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching as "an outstanding and nationally significant example of how schools and colleges can collaborate to improve American education."
