Presentations for High School Educators

Linda Davis, Wicomico High School

Uses the framework of pitching a movie to teach the revision techniques of Think Aloud and Rewrite.

Tom Hamill, Snow Hill High School

Employs a clothing analogy to increase awareness of audience and purpose, and provides practice using formal language for persuasive writing.

Kim Patrick, Stephen Decatur High School

 

Addresses ways to incorporate writing into the mathematics curriculum;  focuses on writing definitions and descriptions.

Rita Miller, Wicomico High School

 

Uses the genre of detective/mystery fiction to enhance students' thinking, reading, and writing abilities.

Shannon Ritz, Stephen Decatur High School

 


The Eastern Shore Writing Project is an approved affiliate of the National Writing Project, a network of over 165 sites across the country and around the world that seeks to improve the teaching of writing at all levels of education, pre-kindergarten through university. The NWP has been recognized by the American Association for Higher Education and the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching as "an outstanding and nationally significant example of how schools and colleges can collaborate to improve American education."
